Viral Pneumonia
Viral pneumonia is a type of pneumonia caused by a virus. It is usually less serious than bacterial pneumonia, but it can be very dangerous in young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, chest pain, difficulty breathing, and coughing. Treatment involves supportive care such as rest, fluids, and medicines to reduce discomfort. Vaccines are available to prevent some of the viruses that can cause viral pneumonia. In addition, good hand hygiene and avoiding contact with people who are ill can reduce the risk of contracting the virus.
