Respiratory Medicine Sleep and Ventilation Disorders
Respiratory medicine sleep and ventilation disorders refer to conditions that affect the ability to get enough oxygen into the body and the body’s ability to properly rid itself of excess carbon dioxide. These conditions can be caused by a variety of issues, including infections, inflammation, sleep apnea, obesity, COPD, and neuromuscular diseases. Symptoms can range from trouble breathing to fatigue, high blood pressure, headaches, chest pain, and more. Treatment options vary depending on the underlying cause, but may include lifestyle modifications, medications, and/or respiratory therapy. Treatment is important as it can help improve quality of life and reduce the risk of complications.
