Biography:

Education:

  • Graduated from the Physics Department of Northwest University in 1988, received bachelor of science degree.
  • Graduated from the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy Sciences in biophysics in 1995, received master of science degree.
  • Graduated from the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy Sciences in biophysics in 1999, received Ph.D degree.
  • Now, director of Medical Physics Department, Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, member of the Steering Committee of Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group (PTCOG).

Research career and achievements:

  • From March,1999 to August, 2000, worked as a research assistant and then an associate professor at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences;
  • From September, 2000 to October, 2002, worked as a guest scientist at the German Heavy Ion Research Center (GSI), Germany;
  • From November, 2002 to December, 2004, worked as a guest scientist at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS), Japan;
  • From Janurary, 2005 to now, working as a senior researcher at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
  • Established heavy ion therapeutic techniques such as beam delivery, beam modelling, dose algorithm and motion compensation in China; investigated heavy ion biological effects and relevant mechanisms; developed a biologically based heavy ion treatment planning system.
  • Training of graduate students: 4 Ph.D students and 3 master students are now in study; 5 Ph.D and 4 master students have been graduated.
