Overview
Population Health Analysis is the systematic examination of health outcomes, determinants, and patterns within defined groups or communities to inform public health interventions and policy decisions. Research published in Public Health International on this topic addresses diverse dimensions of population health across multiple geographic settings, with particular emphasis on health service utilization, disease knowledge, and health system quality. Studies have investigated factors affecting antenatal care access through mobile communication in Uganda, tuberculosis knowledge among patients in Rwanda, and malaria prevention behaviors among pregnant women in Nigeria. The journal has published analyses of reproductive health service utilization among rural adolescents, data quality perceptions in public health facilities, and attitudes toward secondhand smoke exposure among specific occupational groups. Additional research has examined the intersection of intimate partner violence, stress, and chronic disease among immigrant populations, quality improvement strategies in private healthcare facilities, and vaccine efficacy in occupational settings. This body of work reflects the multifaceted nature of population health analysis, encompassing behavioral determinants, healthcare access barriers, knowledge gaps, and system-level factors that shape health outcomes in diverse populations and settings.
