Overview
Health promotion and education encompasses strategies and interventions designed to enable individuals and communities to increase control over and improve their health through knowledge dissemination, behavior change, and environmental modifications. Research published in Public Health International on this topic addresses diverse aspects of health promotion across multiple settings and populations. Published studies examine healthcare worker knowledge and risk perception during disease outbreaks, tobacco control policy frameworks, and the role of tactile communication in enhancing compliance with health messages. The journal has featured investigations into maternal and child health service utilization and the integration of traditional healthcare practices with national health systems, as well as barriers and facilitators faced by community health workers in implementing care programs. Additional research explores cultural dimensions of managing chronic conditions such as obesity, sanitation infrastructure improvements in rural communities, and health data quality in public facilities. Studies also address disease transmission patterns in urban settings, holistic nursing approaches in intensive care, and the health status of aging populations. This body of work reflects the multifaceted nature of health promotion, spanning individual behavior change, healthcare system strengthening, and community-level interventions across diverse geographic and cultural contexts.
