Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental health disorder that causes abnormal emotional functioning, leading to unstable moods and impulsive behaviour. People with the disorder may have difficulty regulating their emotions, have intense and unstable relationships, have high levels of self-doubt and feelings of emptiness, display reckless behaviour, and have difficulty managing negative thoughts and feelings. BPD can have a significant impact on an individual's quality of life, making it difficult to maintain a job, build relationships, and lead a healthy lifestyle. Treatment for BPD usually focuses on psychotherapy and psychopharmacology to teach individuals how to regulate emotions, improve communication skills, and foster healthy relationships. It is important to seek treatment for individuals with BPD to help improve quality of life and reduce the risk of self-harming behaviour.
