Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that causes extreme changes in mood, energy and activity levels. People with the condition experience extreme highs (mania) and extreme lows (depression). Symptoms of mania can include inflated self-esteem, reduced need for sleep, racing thoughts, out of character behavior and increased physical activity. Symptoms of depression may include feelings of sadness, guilt, worthlessness and lack of interest in activities they once enjoyed. Bipolar disorder is a serious condition and can have a significant affect on a person's life, but there are effective treatments available to manage symptoms and improve quality of life. With the right support, people with bipolar disorder can learn to manage and live a full life.
