Epigenetics
Epigenetics is the study of how the environment and lifestyle can alter gene expression, without changing the DNA sequence. This can be done by changing the way the DNA is packaged and exposed to cellular processes. It is an important field that can help us to better understand the mechanisms behind diseases like cancer, which can link the cause to factors such as stress, diet, and lifestyle. Epigenetics can also help us to better understand how drugs or hormones can alter the behaviour of a cell without changing its genetic code. The knowledge of epigenetics can be used to create therapies and treatments to repair faulty gene regulation and create new tissue for medical applications like drug delivery, tissue engineering, and gene therapy.
