Genetically Modified Crops
Genetically Modified (GM) crops are crops that have had their genetic make-up altered in a laboratory. This alteration can be done to make them more resistant to pests, drought, and disease, or to produce more nutritious foods, such as those with higher levels of vitamins and minerals. GM crops have revolutionized agriculture, allowing farmers to produce more food with fewer inputs, reducing the environmental impact of agriculture and improving food security. GM crops are also important for medical research, providing a valuable tool for bio-engineering and helping to produce medicines and pharmaceuticals.
