Overview
Crop proteomics is the study of proteins within the plant, mainly focused on the identification and characterization of proteins within the crop. This allows us to gain insights into the physiology and biochemistry of the crop, and can be used to inform decisions around crop management, breeding, and development of crop varieties. Crop proteomics can provide a deeper understanding of the function of proteins within a crop and how they contribute to crop yield, quality and development. By understanding the protein content of crops, we can assess how a crop is responding to changing environmental conditions and design strategies to improve its performance. Crop proteomics has become increasingly important as a tool to understand the impact of climate change on crop productivity and food security.
