Overview
Association analysis is a data mining technique which identifies relationships among different items in a dataset. This technique is widely used in market basket analysis, where the aim is to identify interesting relationships between items in customers' baskets. As such, it is widely used in retail stores, supermarkets, and e-commerce websites to identify which items are often purchased together and to create marketing strategies based on the identified associations. This technique can also be used to identify associations between different items in a dataset, such as genetic associations in genetic datasets or associations between symptoms and diseases in medical research. By uncovering such associations, it can improve our understanding of existing problems and help identify causes and solutions.
