Plant Cell Biology
Plant cell biology is the study of the structure, functions, and interactions of cells in plants. It has been used to explain and understand a wide range of biological processes, such as how plants take up and use light, nutrients and water, and how they defend themselves against diseases. Plant cell biology is also important for medical research and crop improvement, helping us to understand the genetic basis of diseases, develop better medicines and strengthen crops against diseases and pests. By investigating plant cells, we learn more about fundamental biological principles, as well as how plants interact with their environment, giving us a better understanding of their ecological roles.
