Overview

. Climate change is a global phenomenon that is having a significant impact on the ecology of our planet. The effects of climate change, such as rising temperatures and changing precipitation patterns, are leading to changes in the diversity and abundance of species, habitats and ecosystems. Ecological systems are being disrupted, leading to extinctions, the emergence of novel species combinations, and the spread of invasive species. Climate change is also contributing to desertification, coastal erosion, and ocean acidification, thus impacting the health and integrity of a number of ecosystems globally. A better understanding of the impacts of climate change on ecology is essential to inform better management strategies to mitigate, and adapt to, climate change.
