Overview
Proteases are enzymes that break down proteins into their amino acid components. They have profound importance in the body, playing a role in the digestion of food, stimulation of metabolism, maintenance of the immune system, and more. In addition, they are used in a wide range of industrial and medical applications, such as the production of food, drugs, and biofuels, as well as in biotechnological processes. Proteases can also be used as biomarkers for disease diagnosis, and to develop novel therapeutic strategies.
