Biography

Dulari Jayawardena, PhD, is affiliated with the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, United States, where she completed her doctoral education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focuses on intestinal epithelial physiology and barrier function, with particular emphasis on ion transport mechanisms. Her most influential work, "A Novel Role of SLC26A3 in the Maintenance of Intestinal Epithelial Barrier Integrity," published in 2021, has been cited 139 times and represents a significant contribution to understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying gut barrier integrity.
