Pediatrics and Child Health Pediatric Anesthesiology
Pediatrics and child health is a medical specialty focused on the health and well-being of children from birth to young adulthood. Pediatric anesthesiology is a subspecialty of anesthesiology which focuses on the needs of pediatric patients who require anesthesia during medical procedures. It is important because it helps reduce the risk of complications and improve the safety of the patient; furthermore, anesthesia is used to help minimize pain during the procedure. Pediatric anesthesiologists are trained in the use of both general and regional anesthetics in addition to sedation techniques. They are also responsible for managing patients' vital functions during the procedure and caring for their pain management and recovery. Pediatric anesthesiologists play a critical role in the successful care of pediatric patients, including those with special healthcare needs, and babies born prematurely.
