Growth Hormone Deficiency
Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is a medical condition caused by a lack of growth hormone (GH) secretion from the anterior pituitary gland. It is a common endocrine disorder affecting children and can cause short stature, delayed bone age, and delayed physical development. GHD can also affect adults and can present with a variety of clinical signs and symptoms, including fatigue, decreased muscle mass and strength, and metabolic changes that can lead to cardiovascular diseases and metabolic syndrome. Treatment of GHD with recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) can prevent or reduce the impact of this condition and is particularly important in helping children with GHD reach their full potential. RhGH supplementation can improve height, body composition, immune function, and physical performance.
