Soil-transmitted Helminths

Soil-transmitted helminths (STHs) are parasitic worms that cause infections in humans when they come into contact with contaminated soil. They can cause a variety of symptoms, including abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and anemia. STHs are the most common intestinal parasites in the world, and they exist in almost every country. They can spread easily and can affect people of all ages, but they are especially common in children who live in tropical and subtropical regions. Treatment of STHs can range from preventive measures, such as providing clean water and sanitation, to medication. Proper diagnosis and treatment of STHs can help reduce the burden of disease and improve people’s health and quality of life.
