Protozoan Models

Protozoans are single-celled eukaryotic organisms that can be studied and used as models in biological research. With their small size and simple structure, they are ideal organisms for exploring cellular and molecular processes, such as cell division and metabolism, in an efficient and cost effective manner. Due to the diversity in their shapes, sizes, and behavior, protozoans represent a diverse group of organisms that can be used to investigate a variety of phenomena. Through the use of protozoan models, scientists have been able to gain insight into the basic mechanisms of life and the processes that occur within living cells, which has had a major impact on our understanding of both health and disease.
