Helminths

Helminths are parasitic worms that are commonly found in animals and humans. They cause serious infections (helminthiases) and can affect the digestive system, lungs and other parts of the body. Helminths are typically transmitted via contaminated water and food sources and can cause a range of health issues, such as malnutrition and anemia. Treatment and prevention of helminthiasis requires adequate hygiene, proper sanitation and effective deworming medications. Even though these parasites can be painful and debilitating, they represent an important source of medical data, providing valuable insight into the ecology and physiology of the affected hosts.
