Blast Algorithm
Blast (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) is a bioinformatics algorithm used to identify similarities in biological sequences, such as the amino acid sequences of proteins or the nucleotides of DNA sequences. It is an essential tool for molecular biologists, helping them to quickly identify homologies between sequences. The algorithm can be used to identify shared genes, function annotations and homologous proteins. The algorithm is also used to find sequences similar to a query sequence, and can be used in many areas of molecular biology to compare an entire genome or a specific sequence to previously known sequences. Its use in gene and protein annotation plays a key role in understanding the function of many proteins and genes, allowing scientists to target regions of interest in their studies.
