Amoebiasis

Amoebiasis is an infection caused by the parasite Entamoeba histolytica, which is found in the intestine. It is most commonly spread through contaminated food or water and poor hygiene. Symptoms of the infection range from diarrhea and abdominal cramps to more serious issues such as liver abscesses. Treatment usually involves antibiotics and medications to stop the diarrhea. Amoebiasis is a significant health issue in many developing countries, and is estimated to affect about 50 million people each year. It is important to avoid consuming contaminated food and water, practice good hygiene, and receive prompt treatment in order to prevent the spread of the infection.
