Insulin

Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas in the body that helps to regulate the concentration of glucose in the blood. It does so by signaling the cells of the body to take up glucose from the bloodstream and to store it for later use. Insulin is essential for human life as it is needed for healthy metabolic regulation. Its deficiency or resistance can lead to a number of health conditions, most notably diabetes. Insulin is used as a therapeutic agent to help manage insulin levels and glucose control in people with diabetes. It also has applications in research and in biotechnology.
