Palliative Treatment
Palliative treatment is an approach to medical care and support that focuses on relieving symptoms and improving the quality of life for people with serious diseases or conditions that cannot be cured. Palliative treatment is a holistic, team-based approach to care, which includes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of care. The goal of palliative treatment is to help patients and their families deal with the symptoms, psychological and spiritual distress, and suffering associated with a serious illness, without curative intent. Palliative treatment has been shown to improve overall quality of life, reduce stress, and promote healing and a sense of wellbeing. Palliative treatment can be provided in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and at home. It is an important part of end-of-life care, and is beneficial for many individuals and families dealing with chronic, advanced, and terminal illnesses.
