Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the study of the patterns, causes and effects of health and disease in populations. It is the foundational science of public health and provides a powerful tool for identifying and controlling potential health risks. Epidemiologic research can be used to identify the causes of disease, track changes in disease burden, and develop evidence-based interventions to improve health in communities. Epidemiology also plays a role in developing preventive strategies and interventions, such as immunizations and public health campaigns, to promote population health.
