Antiretroviral Therapy
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is an important treatment option for those with HIV or AIDS. It works by suppressing the virus and preventing it from replicating, allowing the body’s natural immune system to fight off the infection. ART typically involves taking a combination of different antiretroviral medicines that work in combination to block the virus. It is important to note that ART is not a cure for HIV: rather, it is a way of controlling the virus and keeping the virus levels low to reduce the risk of developing AIDS-related illnesses. Additionally, it can reduce the risk of transmitting HIV to someone else. ART can help people with HIV lead healthier, longer lives.
