Sinusitis
Sinusitis is a condition in which the tissue lining the sinuses, or air-filled pockets around the nasal passages, become inflamed and swollen. This can lead to an increased production of mucus, difficulty breathing, and pain or pressure in the face and head. Sinusitis is a very common condition that affects millions of people each year, typically caused by an infection from bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Treatment involves taking antibiotics, decongestants, and pain relievers as needed, along with applying warm compresses or performing nasal irrigation. In more serious cases, endoscopic sinus surgery may be necessary. Sinusitis can be uncomfortable and disruptive to a person’s daily life, but treatment can help alleviate symptoms and improve overall quality of life.
