Sinus Infections
Sinus infections, also known as sinusitis, are an inflammation or swelling of the tissue lining the sinuses. Symptoms can include nasal congestion, facial pain and pressure, headaches, green or yellow nasal discharge, fever, and bad breath. Most sinus infections are caused by bacteria, viruses, and allergens, such as pollen and dust mites. Treatment may include antibiotics, decongestants, nasal sprays, and antihistamines. Improper diagnosis or treatment of sinus infections can lead to complications, such as meningitis or an abscess in the sinus cavity. Sinus infections can cause long-term health problems if not treated properly.
