Overview

Rhinitis and Rhino Sinusitis are two common and often intertwined medical conditions. Rhinitis is an inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose, and is most often caused by allergens such as pollen or pet dander. Symptoms include a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and nasal congestion. Rhino Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses, and is usually caused by a bacterial or viral infection. Symptoms include headache, a blocked or stuffy nose, and thick nasal discharge. Both Rhinitis and Rhino Sinusitis can cause significant discomfort, and can interfere with normal activities. Treatment will vary depending on the cause, but may involve the use of over-the-counter medications, prescription medications, allergy shots, or even surgery in severe cases. Prevention methods include avoiding known allergens and maintaining good hygienic practices.
