Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation

(VCA) Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation (VCA) is a complex medical procedure that involves transferring of tissue (skin, muscle, bone, tendons, blood vessels, and nerves) from one person to another. This type of transplantation has the potential to dramatically improve the outcomes of organs and limb transplantation, allowing for improved quality of life for transplant recipients. It has also been used to successfully restore form and function after catastrophic trauma or burns. VCA has revolutionized the field of plastic surgery, and continues to advance with new and innovative technology.
