Keratoplasty
Keratoplasty, also known as corneal transplant, is a major eye surgery intended to restore vision by replacing a damaged or diseased cornea with donated corneal tissue. This type of surgery is often used to treat conditions such as corneal scarring, corneal edema, corneal ulcer, keratoconus, and corneal degeneration. Keratoplasty is a relatively common and safe surgical procedure, and is highly effective in restoring sight and improving overall vision. In some cases, it can even lead to better vision than the patient had prior to the surgery. Because of its effectiveness, keratoplasty is a valuable treatment for restoring and improving vision in those who have experienced visual impairment due to corneal disease.
