These growths may be benign or malignant, and can affect any part of the eye, including the eyelids, cornea, iris, retina, and optic nerve. There are various types of ocular tumors, including tumors that originate within the eye and those that spread from other parts of the body. Some common ocular tumors include retinoblastoma, which is a type of malignancy that affects young children, melanoma, which is a type of skin cancer that can spread to other parts of the body, and lymphoma, which is a cancer of the immune system. Depending on the location, size, and type of ocular tumor, ophthalmologists may use a variety of techniques to manage and treat the condition. Surgical removal of the tumor, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy are some examples of treatment options.
