Eating disorders are mental health conditions that involve disturbances in a person’s eating pattern or behavior that lead to significant health and psychological issues. Eating disorders are characterized by issues with body image and extreme behaviors such as fasting, or overeating. Eating disorders can have serious physical and mental health consequences, which can be fatal in extreme cases. Eating disorders can affect people of all ages and genders, but are most common among adolescents and young adults. Treatment for eating disorders usually involves a combination of therapy, nutritional counseling, and medications. Treatment is essential to maintain good physical and mental health.
