Overview

Diabetes is a chronic medical condition in which the body does not process the hormone insulin correctly. This leads to elevated blood sugar levels, which can cause damage to the body's organs and lead to a number of health complications. There are two main types of diabetes - Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 requires insulin injections, whereas Type 2 can often be managed through diet, exercise and oral medication. Diabetes is a serious condition and can lead to life-threatening complications, however, there are treatments and lifestyle changes that can help to manage the condition and reduce the risk of long-term health problems.
