Adipose Tissue
Adipose tissue is the body’s main energy storage site and is composed of specialized fat cells (adipocytes) that contain mostly triglycerides. Adipose tissue is important for a number of physiological functions including providing insulation and protection, endocrine regulation, and energy storage. It can also act as a source of energy during times of starvation, and its presence in several organs, such as the heart and kidneys, is essential for proper organ functioning. Adipose tissue is also associated with various health conditions, including obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Its role in maintaining a healthy metabolism makes it a critical factor in maintaining overall health and wellbeing.
