Right Hemisphere Damage

Right hemisphere damage occurs when the right side of a patient’s brain is damaged due to trauma, stroke, or other medical issues. It can cause difficulties with physical and sensory processes, language, and nonverbal communication. It can also impair cognitive processing, problem-solving, and social and emotional interactions. People with right hemisphere damage may experience difficulties with performing activities of daily living and require extensive and ongoing rehabilitation therapies to help them cope with the changes. Right hemisphere damage has a significant impact on individuals, families, and communities and can be devastating. Fortunately, through early diagnosis and treatment, people with right hemisphere damage can still lead productive and meaningful lives.
