Urinary Tract Infection
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection that affects any part of the urinary tract, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. UTI symptoms can range from mild to severe and include pain or burning upon urination, cloudy or bloody urine, abdominal pain, fatigue, and fever. UTIs are the second most common type of bacterial infection and account for approximately 8.1 million doctor visits every year. UTIs are most commonly treated with antibiotics, and if left untreated can lead to more serious health issues. Treatment options and preventive measures such as drinking plenty of water, avoiding tight fitting clothes and underwear, and wiping from front to back after going to the restroom, can help reduce the risk of experiencing a UTI.
