Neurourology

Neurourology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the study and management of neurological disorders of the lower urinary tract. It combines aspects of neurology, urology and neuroscience to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from problems related to bladder and urethral dysfunction. Neurourology aids in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as post-voiding residuals, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder syndrome, urinary tract infections and urinary retention. It provides effective treatments to help reduce or eliminate bothersome or embarrassing urinary problems, improve quality of life, and reduce medical costs. Neurourology also focuses on developing treatments for male voiding dysfunction, including erectile dysfunction and urinary retention. Neurourology research has played a major role in advancing the understanding and treatment of bladder and urethral disorders, providing leading-edge treatments that improve the lives of patients.
