Nephrologist
A nephrologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the care of people with kidney-related illnesses. They diagnose, monitor, and treat diseases of the kidney, such as kidney failure, chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, and infections. Nephrologists work closely with other health professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with kidney diseases, including managing hypertension and diabetes, prescribing medications, and providing lifestyle advice. They also coordinate dialysis or kidney transplantation when needed. Nephrologists play an important role in helping to improve the quality of life for those living with kidney conditions.
