Kidney

Stones Kidney stones are hard deposits made of minerals and salt that can form in the kidneys. They can be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball, and they can cause significant pain in both women and men when they try to pass them through the urinary tract. Kidney stones can cause urinary tract infections, block the urinary tract, and cause kidney damage if they are left untreated. Treatment options include drinking lots of fluids, taking medications to break up and dissolve the stones, and in some cases, undergoing surgery. Maintaining good hydration and a healthy diet low in sodium and animal protein can help prevent the formation of kidney stones.
