Hypertension
Hypertension, commonly referred to as high blood pressure, is a condition wherein the force of the blood flowing through the blood vessels is higher than the normal range. This elevated pressure can cause various organ damage and can lead to serious illnesses such as stroke, kidney failure and heart attack. Hypertension is one of the leading risk factors for premature deaths and is therefore a major global health problem. Treatment usually involves lifestyle changes such as reducing salt intake, increasing physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight, and medical interventions such as medications that help lower blood pressure. It is important to regularly visit your doctor for regular check-ups and to monitor your blood pressure levels. Early diagnosis and management of hypertension can help to reduce your risk of serious complications.
