Overview

Metabolic Disorders of acid/base or electrolyte metabolism are medical conditions in which there are imbalances in the acidity or alkalinity and/or the levels of electrolytes, such as sodium and potassium, in a person's body. These imbalances can cause a variety of issues, from fluid retention and electrolyte imbalances that can lead to cardiac and neurological issues, to kidney stones and other metabolic abnormalities. Early recognition and proper treatment is essential for these disorders, as they can lead to severe consequences if not treated promptly and appropriately. Treatment usually involves lifestyle changes, diet modifications, medications, and sometimes surgery. Proper management will help restore normal acid/base and electrolyte levels, improve symptoms, and reduce the risk of further complications.
