Overview

Case series is a type of observational research design that describes the outcomes for a group of individuals who have a similar experience. It does not involve any randomized control group or comparison group and is usually used to study rare diseases or outcomes that occur infrequently. Case series are used to provide evidence for the efficacy of a treatment, describe the natural history of a condition, or may be used as a basis of a hypothesis. They can also provide an important source of information to help guide clinical practice and further research.
