Overview

Verbal short-term memory is the ability to temporarily store and recall verbal information, such as words or sentences. It is a fundamental part of our working memory and is important for language processing, forming memories, and problem-solving. Short-term memory is often used in tasks such as memorization, problem-solving, decision-making and concentration. It plays a role in learning by enabling us to retain and recall information, as well as helping us to understand the sequence of events. Studies have shown that the more complex the material, the better verbal short-term memory is needed to process it.
