Anal Fistula
An anal fistula is a small tunnel-like opening between the anus and the skin. It is typically caused by a bacterial infection that has spread from the anus to the surrounding tissues. The fistula usually causes discomfort, and can cause pain, drainage, itching, and bad odors. Treatment may involve antibiotics, draining the infection, and in some cases, surgery. Anal fistula is a troublesome condition, as it can lead to chronic and recurrent infections, so it is important to seek medical treatment as soon as possible.
