Medical Trauma
Medical trauma is the physical and psychological harm caused to a person due to an accident, violence, or other health-related event. This type of trauma is a leading cause of death and disability in the U.S., with more than 210,000 people dying from it annually. It can lead to physical, emotional, and psychosocial impairments. Proper medical intervention is essential to minimize medical trauma’s long-term effects. Various treatments such as wound management, pain relief, mental health support, and physical therapy may be used to help those affected. The focus in medical trauma is to support the healing process and improve the quality of life of those affected. With better understanding and management of medical trauma, lives can be saved and quality of life improved.
