Overview

Lung cancer treatment is the use of medical interventions to treat cancers of the lungs. It can involve surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted drug therapy or immunotherapy. The treatment of lung cancer needs to be tailored to the individual as the type and stage of the cancer plays a role in the treatment choices. Early detection and prompt treatment are important for better outcomes, as lung cancer has a tendency to spread rapidly. Treatments can improve the chances of survival, help reduce symptoms and slow the progression of the disease.
