Overview

NOTES (Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery) is an emerging field of minimally invasive surgery. NOTES involves the use of an endoscope—a slim, lighted tube with a tiny camera—to reach the treatment site. This technique eliminates the need for open surgery with large incisions, which can lead to painful surgeries, longer recovery times, and increased risk of infection. Instead, the endoscope is inserted through natural orifices such as the mouth, rectum, or vagina. NOTES is beneficial for a variety of surgical procedures, including gallbladder removal, appendectomy, hernia repair, and hysterectomy. The goal of this technology is to provide an alternative to traditional open surgeries with a high success rate and fewer risks of complications.
