Expertise against the journal's scope
The aims and scope defines six research domains. The domains the board's current membership covers are set out below, each against the expertise that supports it.

Responsibility
Editorial responsibility
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
- Editorial independence
- Editorial decisions are independent of fees, membership, editorial roles, and any optional author service. Review speed is not sold, and no route through the journal can be purchased.
- Editor-authored submissions
- Editors recuse themselves from decisions on their own submissions, and those manuscripts are handled independently.
- Conflicts of interest
- Financial and non-financial interests and all funding sources are declared by authors, and by the editors and reviewers who handle a manuscript.
- Confidentiality
- Manuscripts under consideration are confidential. Reviewers must not retain or use unpublished material, and must securely delete downloaded files after submitting a review.
- Research integrity
- Errors in the published record are corrected in the public record, through a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction linked to the original article.

Joining
Joining the editorial board
The journal is expanding its board and welcomes expressions of interest from researchers and clinicians working across the domains its scope defines — perinatal and reproductive psychiatry, hormonal and life-stage influences, trauma and its sequelae, social and structural determinants, access to and organization of care, and measurement, mechanisms and population patterns.
Editors are expected to handle manuscripts within their own field, to declare interests, and to recuse themselves where a conflict exists. Researchers who would like to be considered are invited to write to the editorial office with a current CV and an ORCID iD, or to read the editors guidelines first.
