Submit a Manuscript

Three routes are open to authors of this journal. Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.

All three reach the same editorial office and lead to the same screening and review. Choose whichever suits you.

The routes

Choosing how to send it

The route makes no difference to how a manuscript is screened, reviewed or decided. It only changes how the files reach the office.

Primary route
ManuscriptZone is the publisher's manuscript system. It takes the files and the author details, tracks the manuscript through review, and is where revisions and decisions are handled. Authors who expect to submit more than once will find it the easiest to work with.
Alternative route
The manuscript submission form opens with this journal already selected and asks for the files and the contact details in one page. It suits a single submission without an account.
Assisted route
Authors who would rather submit by email, or who want to ask whether a manuscript fits before preparing it, can write to [email protected]. The editorial office will confirm receipt and enter the manuscript into the same process.
One route per manuscript
Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript. Sending the same work twice creates duplicate records that delay it.

Before you send

What to have ready

Everything here is described in full in the Instructions for Authors; this is the short list to check against before you start.

  • Scope. The manuscript addresses a substantive question about pediatric health, development, nutrition or care, as the Aims and Scope page sets out.
  • Manuscript file. Prepared to the limits for its article type, with a structured abstract and keywords.
  • Title page. Authors, affiliations, corresponding author, word count and the competing-interest declaration — supplied separately if you are requesting double-blind review.
  • Figures, tables and supplements. As separate files, at the resolution and in the formats the Instructions for Authors specify.
  • Ethics and consent. The approving committee and its reference number, parental or guardian permission and child assent, and separate written permission for anything that could identify a child.
  • Registration. For interventional studies, dietary interventions included, the registry name, registration number and registration date.
  • Declarations. Funding, author contributions, the data-availability statement and any disclosure of AI use.
  • Reporting checklist. The completed checklist for the study design.

After you send

What happens next

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.

Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.

On the fee

An author may withdraw a manuscript at any time. Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere; the terms are set out on the Article Processing Charges page.
